Spring10 Reading1 (in four parts)

Prism with refracted light Welcome to the Spring10 semester. The first reading assignment is in four parts. Directions for access can be found in the on-line Course Syllabus. The readings are:

  • Charles Wallschlaeger, Basic Visual Concepts and Principles for Artists, Architects, and Designers, Excerpts from Chapter 8 (part1: Light&Color, part2: Color Mixing ).
  • Becky Koenig, Color Workbook, Chapter 5: The Materials of Color (part 1&2)

Students should comment on the Wallschlaeger readings. (Commenting on the Koenig readings is optional.) Leave just your first name. Keep comments short and to the point (three or four sentences). Do not repeat the contents of readings but give your honest opinion or try to find some relevance to your own work. Also feel free to pick up on any previous comments by other students. Comments are due by 2/9 and access will close automatically 16 days after my post.

Spring10 Photo: favorite color

Welcome Art 14! Our first Image Collection assignment is to create a set or album of photos (any number) that represent your one favorite color and post a link to it in the comments section of this blog for us to view. I have posted the first comment below as an example. Note: This first image assignment is experimental so will be credit/no credit – just have fun with it and be creative. Comments will close automatically 20 days from this post.
